A little history of the brand
Breville is a small appliance brand founded in Sydney in 1932. This Australian company is top-rated specifically for its blenders, food processors, kettles, coffee makers, toasters, microwaves, and toaster ovens. As of 2016, Breville also manufactures coffee machines for Nespresso, including the Inissia, Bambino, and Citiz series machines.
The name of the brand was born in 1932 due to the mixture of the surnames of Bill O’Brien and Harry Norville. Inventors started out making radios and later mine detectors for warfare. After World War II, with the start of television broadcasting in Australia in 1956, they also began manufacturing televisions under the Precedent brand, sold in 1955 to Electronic Industries Limited. Breville focused on the production of small appliances.
The O’Brien family built the Breville business by leading product development initiatives for three generations, establishing a Research and Development Center in the late 1960s. The company has received more than 40 international design awards and has more than 100 active patents. Its great success has established it as the household name brand in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
The Breville companies from Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong transferred the brand to the Houseware company in 2001. This transitions the brand to change its focus towards the electricity business. In 2008 Houseware officially took the name Breville Group Limited, which works with partners Kambrook and Grupo Sage.
